ITEM Episode 1 Recap, A New Supernatural Thriller

Ju Ji-Hoon is back after his great performance in the drama Kingdom. This new drama is a supernatural thriller in which Ji-Hoon works as a prosecutor. His life changes when he meets a criminal who has supernatural powers and then his little niece goes missing. He gets involved in a conspiracy about the items (hence the name) that contain supernatural powers to save his niece. The other stars of the drama are ever cute Jin Se-Yoon and the handsome actor Kim Kang-Woo. Jin Se-Yoon is a criminal profiler while Kang-Woo is a chaebol and owner of the supernatural items.

Ju Ji-Hoon and Jin Se-Yoon previously worked together in the drama Five Fingers.

A train suddenly stops, the conductor puts the train in reverse and it starts going backwards in full speed. People on the train are terrified while Kang-Gon (he is hurt) arrives at a train station. He pushes the emergency button and yells at everyone to evacuate the station before he jumps on the rail track. The people are calling him a murderer prosecutor and start taping him. Kang-Gon uses supernatural power (coming from his bracelet) to stop the train that is coming towards him. Kang-Gon then suddenly wakes up and looks like it was all a dream. He gets ready for work and drops his niece to her school. He is going to be transferred to the Seoul prosecution office soon but he is still working on a case. His superior tells him to stop looking in the case but Kang-gon doesn’t listen to him.

Meanwhile, Se-Hwang is release from the jail, he gets on his knees in front of the reporters and promises to work hard for the betterment of the country. Elsewhere, the cops are under pressure to find out a philanthropist Nam Chul Soon who has disappeared. So-Young suggests (after studying CCTV footage) that this is a homicide case rather a disappearance or a kidnapping case. Kang-Gon helps a lady who is hurt by one of her customer who is still in her shop. Kang-Won goes to the shop and meets the lunatic who smashes the alcohol bottle just by touching it and then the table as well. The culprit runs away after a scuffle with Kang-Gon, the culprit is wearing the same bracelet Kang-Gon was wearing in his dream.

Kang-Won chases after him and they get into a fight in an abandoned building. The bracelet gets “recharged” after touching the water and the culprit gets superhuman power. In the fight Kang-Gon takes off the bracelet from culprit’s hand, the culprit ends up falling from the building and the bracelet as well. Elsewhere, Se-Hwang has a collection of “special items”, he gets furious when he founds out that one “item” is missing. He takes a selfie with a special Polaroid camera, the photo comes out showing the bracelet is with a little girl, Kang-Gon’s niece. The police receive information about Nam Chul-Soon’s whereabouts and they follow it up. So-Young thinks it is a false report and start her own investigation at Chul-Soon’s home.

The officers find out that the information was wrong, while So-Young finds Chul-Soon dead and buried in his bathroom wall. Her senior is not happy that she is the one who found the body as he wants a promotion. Se-Hwang tells his assistant to bring the bracelet back, while Kang-Gon and his niece move to Seoul. Se-Hwang goes to see his father who is in a “coma”. He tells his father that he make sure he “lives” a long life as then it will be fun for him. Dong-Young is prayings and beats himself with a supernatural whip. Kang-Gon arrives in Seoul, he is informed by his previous investigator about the criminal he fought with. He also runs into So-Young and sees her (in future) standing on top of a building with her eyes totally white. He saves her from a falling object meanwhile she jumps off the building (in the future).

Korean Drama Ratings October 29 to November 4, 2018

Halloween week is over and so does end of the run for few drama series. Here are Korean Drama Ratings for the period of Oct 29 to Nov 4.  100 Days My Prince ended with ratings over 14 as we expected. Other dramas from Mon-Tue. bracket lost them, viewers.  Bad Papa  did not air on Tuesday because of a baseball game. We have to see if  Mama and The Woodcutter will be able to keep these viewers. There is also a good chance that  Where Stars Land  comes out as the new leader. Terius Behind me kept also its lead and closely followed by much more interesting Heart Surgeons .  The Guest  and  The Ghost Detective both also aired their finales. The Guest got a very good rating of 4 whereas the ghost detective stayed around 2. The newcomer Fluttering Warning achieved 2 while The Smile Has Left Your Eyes went below 3.
