Running Man Episode 427 Recap Groot is Back

In the last episode, the couples were decided and I have really high hopes for this episode.

Citizen Kane

At the end of the last episode, the partners were decided. The partners will play finding the thief race. PD informs them that there are two male and two female thieves among the cast members. Haha thinks his partner Han-Na is the thief because of her overacting. Se-Chan is also suspicious about Irene. During all the name calling PD drops the bombshell that thieves have not been chosen yet. This information brings both laughter and embarrassment to the members. Suk-Jin who was really calm throughout all this gets blamed for starting his act too early. There is only one way to win and that is if your partner is a citizen then you win otherwise you get penalized. It doesn’t matter if you yourself are a thief or not.

Male and female choose from different cards and their identity will be the one written on the cards. Sadly for Suk-Jin, he is not a thief. After they finish they change into their uniforms. PD gives an important rule before the start of the race. A winning couple of every mission will be disclosed their partner’s identities. While the losing couple’s identity (if there is a thief or not among them) will be disclosed to everyone. They first start with a chance card game, this card will make the winning team gain victory by default. The game is “Say Three Syllable”, a game at which Ji-Hyo is very good. The game is played like if PD says for e.g Kim couples have to finish it with saying Jong and Kook respectively.

Is It 3 or 4?

Joy suddenly asks a weird question about running first out of nowhere. Her weirdness is making Kwang-Soo annoyed. Anyways they are first to start the game and they win flawlessly much to others surprise. Next, Haha and Jong-Kook couples lose, in the midst, all of this So-Min asks Jae-Seok what if a 4 letter Chinese idiom comes up as a question (Really? 4 letter idiom when they are playing 3 letter game *calling hospital*). Both of them are next and unsurprisingly they lose. Next, its Ji-Hyo and Suk-jin’s turn and they lose as well. Last to compete are The Beauty and The Beast couple of Irene and Se-Chan. Irene requests PD for easy questions and that what he does and they win easily. Other cast members are not happy with the PD but the winning couple doesn’t care.

They join Kwang-Soo couple in the finals. In the finals, Kwang-Soo and Joy couple beat Irene and Se-Chan to win the chance card. They finally start the first mission “Barefoot Tango”, the woman gets on man’s feet in a tango posture and they start walking. The team that moves rose from flour pile to the vase using their mouth wins. First to compete are Kwang-Soo Joy couple and Jae-Seok So-Min couple. Kwang-Soo easily drags Joy until the end very fast using his long legs but right at the end, she uses her hands rather than her mouth to place the flower in the vase. They get disqualified hence So-Min is able to win.

Sherlock Holmes On A Smoking Train

Next Jong-Kook easily beats Ji-Hyo Suk-Jin couple with his strength and wins the race and moves to next round.  Se-Chan and Irene also win and in next round, they face Kwang-Soo Joy couple (they use the chance card). This time Kwang-Soo uses his mouth rather than Joy, flour is coming out of his mouth like smoke out of a train. He beats Se-Chan couple easily and goes to the final round. In the final, he will be facing Sparta power who beat Jae-Seok. Kwang-Soo fully knows he won’t be able to beat Jong-Kook in power so he cheats and is able to win in the end. Ji-Hyo couple is last in the race, so their identity is revealed and one of them is a thief. We already know that Suk-Jin is not a thief so using the techniques of Sherlock Holmes I conclude Ji-Hyo is the thief.

While the winning couple will go to the room of truth to find out each other’s identity. After which they can decide to switch the partners. Joy and Kwang-Soo couple decide to stay as a couple after their identities are revealed to each other. We as an audience are still unaware of their identity. They move on to the next mission, the first round of the next mission is for male members. Female members will have their eyes covered and they have to feed male members jjajangmyeon while standing behind them. Three members will compete at a time and they will calculate the total time to decide the winner.

Return of Voldemort

Mong Ji-Hyo covers Suk-Jin’s eyes for some reason until she is told by other members that she has to cover her own eyes lol. Se-Chan is frustrated by Irene as her complaining doesn’t stop at all. Jae-Seok who loves noodles finishes first, rough Ji-Hyo force feeds poor Suk-Jin with her own hands. Se-Chan is last out of the three, Haha finds him suspicious. After that, the kind Irene tries to help Se-Chan removing sauce from his face. It turns out it was a mole that she was trying to remove. Haha finishes in a jiffy and wins while Joy feeds Kwang-Soo with chopsticks and her left hand.

Next round is for females, they have to break plastic wraps with their face and eat pieces of tangsuyuk (5 in total). Red Velvet members beat Voldemort So-Min. Watching So-Min eat Haha thinks she looks similar to the picture of her and Se-Chan from the last episode. Just like Haha, Han-Na also finishes her mission very fast. Ji-Hyo on the other is very slow for the reason we already know. Suk-Jin complains what kind of ace is she, she is so freaking slow. Haha, and Han-Na wins the mission and get to check each other’s identity. After they check their identities they decide to change their partners and swap with Kwang-Soo Joy couple. We are also shown that both Kwang-Soo and Joy are citizens and not thieves.

We Love The Wit Game

They move to the last round of the day which will decide who will get the penalty. They will be playing “familiar partner roulette quiz”. Who comes up these freaking long names. The members will be participating in a quiz and they will also get roulette with different amount of slots depending on where they will sit. They will get a different amount of roulette knives depending upon the difficulty level of the question that they will answer. The team that correctly answers the question will also get to know the identity of any team of their choice. Also, they will get to stick knives in any team’s roulette and if pirate pops out they will swap partners with that team. {I have tried my best to explain the rules :(}

To decide their sitting plan they will play Jae-Seok’s favorite game, “The Wit Game”.  People are finding its fun because of a large number of participants. Jae-Seok finds the game really pleasing even though he is eliminated right at the start. Haha wins the game at the end and he gets to decide the sitting plan for the teams. Kwang-Soo finds the biggest roulette on his team’s seat and he is not happy. He wants to lose fast and change partners because he thinks Han-Na is a thief. For the first question, Kwang-Soo gives it a try but he is wrong so as a penalty he will be hit by Jong-Kook and his spartan toy hammer. Jong-Kook nearly breaks his neck with his power hit.

Why Only Me?

So-Min gives the correct answer and asks about Joy and Haha couple identity. PD tells Jae-Seok and So-Min that both Haha and Joy are the citizen. Jae-Seok and So-Min chose to swap with Haha Joy couple but they fail in the roulette game. Hence they are not able to swap with them and both couples stay the same. Kwang-Soo is now sure that his partner Han-Na is a thief to which she totally denies. Haha correctly answers the next question and his team are told that there is a thief in Jong-Kook and In-A couple. Kwang-Soo begs Haha and Joy to play the roulette game on his roulette and swap partners with him. Haha agrees to him but Joy fails in the roulette and the couple stays the same this time as well. Han-Na constantly tells Kwang-Soo that he is safe with her.

Ji-Hyo answers correctly the next question while Kwang-Soo keeps complaining about Han-Na. He wants her to give at least a try to answer the question but she is just sitting doing nothing. Her behavior is making him surer that she is a thief. Ji-Hyo chooses Haha Joy couple and she succeeds in the roulette game as well. So now Joy and Suk-Jin are a couple and Ji-Hyo and Haha are a couple. For the next question, Kwang-Soo gets to answer first but Han-Na chooses a different answer from what he told her. Therefore not only does he not get a chance to swap couple he also gets hit by a hammer by Jong-Kook. Jong-Kook’s partner also tries to answer but she is wrong so Jong-Kook gets a hit from Jae-Seok. Jae-Seok scaredly hits him as he is worried about the revenge from him later.

Putting An Axe On Your Own Foot

Kwang-Soo gets another chance to correctly answer the question and he is relieved when he answers it correctly. They also ask about Jong-Kook In-A couple and they are told that there is a thief between them. He decides to swap with Suk-Jin Joy couple but fails during the roulette game. Jong-Kook answers the next question incorrectly and gets another hit from Jae-Seok. But Jae-Seok mistakenly hits him twice and Jong-Kook in response hits him back and Jae-Seok sees stars during the daytime. Jong-Kook and In-A answer the question correctly and decide to swap with innocent Suk-Jin and Joy couple. They succeed in the roulette game and the swap takes place. Jae-Seok and So-Min answer next question and they are able to swap with Se-Chan Irene couple successfully. It is also revealed that Jong-Kook who is partnered with Joy is a thief.

Kwang-Soo answers the last question correctly but instead of him, Han-Na chooses to swap with Haha and Ji-Hyo couple. She succeeds in the roulette game and Kwang-Soo is partnered with thief Ji-Hyo much to his frustration. It is revealed that both Han-Na and Haha are the citizen just like Joy and Kwang-Soo, Kwang-Soo is dumbfounded. Other thieves are Jae-Seok and In-A so their partners are also selected for the punishment with Joy and Kwang-Soo (Because Ji-Hyo and JK are thieves). Pie blaster makes the appearance again, PD gives the good news that only two out of four will be punished. Joy loses in the roulette game so she is the first to get penalized. She also gets to choose the other person for the punishment and she choose Kwang-Soo. Both get pie blasted to their faces.

Thoughts 

This episode was really funny. It was all about Kwang-Soo and his two female partners. He was at his best from start to finish and greatly supported by both Han-Na and Joy. Other couples were also entertaining but Kwang-Soo stole the limelight. I am really enjoying Running Man once again from the bottom of my heart and not only watching it out of loyalty to the show. The new PD and all the staff deserve the praise for all the improvements and new additions which are making the show enjoyable. I can’t wait for the next episode with TWICE next week.
